Elva Witt work up every morning with a purpose. She always had something to do or a reason to get going. What a fun individual to have as a client for years and also just to visit with on many occasions. Glad you made it to 100, but wish it were longer. She was one of the good ones! I met Elva during a meeting of the Red Cross. She was in charge of the Grey Ladies and was giving her report. I was the new Health and Safety Director. I had no idea how much of an influence she would have on my life. She was so dedicated to the Gary Ladies and the Hospital Auxiliary (which is how i was roped into giving blood).

We would complete many projects together and we had such a great time doing them. She always had and open heart and a big smile for anyone who needed it..
Through quit strength could talk people into almost anything myself included.

She taught me how to work hard, be passionate about friends and the all important family plus we always need to have fun while we are doing it.

I am truly sorry for your loss of such an exceptional lady. I did not see of her passing until today. Please know that I will keep all your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Our Mother's Aunt through Delmer. Elva told me that when she was dating Delmer, they would take our Mother, Mavis, with them. I bet that was an interesting date ha? Delmer worked for my Grandfather and took care of him. He also gave him some land to call his own. They were always so good to us kids, made us laugh. Very nice lady!!

Elva was one of a kind. She was a women's leader before it was even thought of. She volunteered for so many groups, but we were privileged to have her as chair of our Graceland Cemetery board. She left this world a better place. May God bless her and keep her.

What sad news. Elva was a wonderful person and will always have a place of honor in my heart. Some of my first and finest memories were from their farm back in the late 30's. She had a very long and productive Christian life. She was a success as a farmer raising chickens and supporting her late husband Delmer, a business women in Madison and in her later years as a tireless volunteer leader in Madison. She had a wonderful 100th birthday party that was attended by as many relatives as could come and I know it made her very happy.
