John "Jack" F. Krause

John “Jack” F. Krause, age 86, of Wentworth, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, January 26, 2018, at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison, SD. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at the West Center Baptist Church in Madison. Military Honors will be held at the church following the service. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

John Frederick Krause was born on June 23, 1931, to Gilbert and Clara (Schrepel) Krause in Madison. He attended school in Madison where he received his GED before joining the US Army. Jack served in the Korean War before returning to Madison with an honorable discharge. On October 10, 1986, Jack married Marjorie Mash in Des Moines, IA, together combining their family of five sons and three daughters.

Jack had many places of employment including the Madison Daily Leader, Krug Product, farming, and driving truck for B&G Trucking. While trucking Jack made it to 49 states, never making it to Hawaii. He enjoyed bird watching and working with flowers. Jack was a member of the American Legion and the First Presbyterian Church in Wentworth.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie of Wentworth; eight children, John (Debi) Krause, Rick Krause, Dave Krause, Steve Krause, JoLynn Verhey, Lisa (Rick) Jung, Jill (Paul) Scherff, and Bill Torrence. His grandchildren include, Jennifer (Jamie), Shawn (Kate), Trevor, Brian, Elizabeth (Alex), Alison, Greg (Rachel), Amanda, Jonny, Shane (Cindy), Brandon, Michael, and Amanda (Dana). His great-grandchildren include, Jordan (Katie), Austin, Dylan, Quinn, Taylor, Tristan, and Weston. His great-great-grandchildren include, Millie and Noah, and one sister Shirley (Hank) Burgett of Ft. Collins, CO.

Preceding him in death are his parents, one brother, Gilbert Jr., and one granddaughter, Arielle.
