Kathleen (Kathy) Renee England, age 64, of Madison died Monday, April 17, 2017 with family by her side at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Memorial Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Ellsworth Funeral Home with the family present for visitation one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Kathy Renee Straus was born August 23, 1952, in Medford, OR, to Joel and Diana (Wolf) Straus. During her childhood her father was active in the military and took them to many exciting places overseas and in the US including California and Alaska. She graduated from High School in Concord, CA. From there she settled in Golden, CO. Kathy had two children during her first marriage, a daughter Kasey and son Eli. She then met the love of her life, Dale England and after a long friendship, they were married on April 21, 1990.
Kathy had many careers throughout her lifetime ranging from being a successful business owner in data processing to driving truck and construction, working at the VFW and making the community smile while working at Sunshine Foods.
Kathy was most known for her artistic abilities and love of animals of all kinds. Her artistry which included painting, crafting, and crocheting can be found in the hands of her friends and grandchildren as well as around the Madison community. Her hobbies and interests included riding motorcycles with her husband, friends and family, riding horses, gardening and canning.
She was an active member of East Central ABATE, VFW Auxiliary, Isaak Walton League and Lake Herman Sanitary Board.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and her younger brother Mark Straus.
Survivors include her husband Dale of Madison; one daughter, Kasey (Jeff) Mix of Ft. Worth, TX; one son, Eli Golden of New Mexico; four step-children, Lisa (Brian) Skartvedt of Radcliff, IA; Shane (Kelli) England of Boone, IA; Justin (Jessica) England of Golden, CO and Jada (Mark “Brodie”) Simmons of The Woodlands, TX; 14 grandchildren; and two sisters, Paulette (Andy) Ainsworth of California and Leslie (Jim) Fowler of Medford, OR.
