Ray Dick, age 85, of Madison, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Madison Community Hospital.
Raymond John Dick was born April 30, 1927, at Wibaux, MT, to John and Marie (Thode) Dick. He was active in 4-H, especially gardening. He attended Wibaux High School and went to work for Boeing Aircraft, Bremington, WA during World War II. Ray married Margaret May Coburn on February 12, 1948, at United Methodist Church, Madison. He worked and/or managed grain elevators in Salem, Oldham, Pierre and Pipestone, MN. Ray was a member of the Freemasonry. He worked for Midwest Coast Transport as terminal manager in Austin, MN until 1967 when he returned to Madison to farm south of Lake Herman. Ray worked as an area supervisor for Sokota Hybrid Producers and raised seed corn. He was also a substitute rural mail carrier for many years.
Ray enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren compete in 4-H and school activities. He loved fishing, hunting and playing cards. Ray was an active member of United Methodist Church and served on several committees.
Survivors include his wife Margaret, one daughter Marcie (John) Cole and one son Brian (Kim) Dick all of Madison, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one sister Lois Novotny of Sacramento, CA and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Robert, and two infant children, Margie Ann and Paul Joseph.
