John R. Eisenbeis

John R. Eisenbeis, age 76, of Madison, SD, passed away peacefully on Friday, Apr 19, 2024, at Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison.  He was surrounded in his last days by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Celebration of Life will be 10:30 AM, April 23, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church in Madison. The service will be livestreamed on the church Facebook page.  He was born December 14, 1947, in Madison and graduated from Madison High School. He lived in Madison his entire life.

His life was filled with exciting accomplishments, from racing stock cars, to flying airplanes, and riding motorcycles, all of which were enjoyed by he and his wife Kathi.  All these activities were done with his dearest treasure, his family. John loved spending his time with his family on all activities.  The cabin at Lake Madison provided a fun place to fish, ski, and boat.  He taught his children and their friends how to water ski.

He ran a gas station and later worked for Gehl as a Quality Control Engineer for several decades.  He was able to repair or build whatever apparatus was needed for his shop or hangar. He served as Police Commissioner on the city council.

He is preceded in death by his parents Emil and Opal (Davenport) and his siblings Hartzel, Lyle, Dave, Joy, Lola, and Dee.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Kathi; children Kim Gregg  (Mark), Kristine Waba  (Chris), and Joe Eisenbeis (Michael Fieber); grandchildren Jon Waba (Shelby), Jess Goetz (Preston), Jenni Waba (Nick LaMotte) and great grandchildren Easton and Saige Waba.
