Alta Lee Obituary

Alta A. Lee, age 85, of Madison, died Friday, January 11, 2019, at her residence in Madison.

Memorial Services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 19, 2019, at First Baptist Church, Madison.  Inurnment will be at a later date at Rosendahl Cemetery, Sherman, SD.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Alta Andeline Wood was born May 15, 1933, at Madison, to Andrew and Minnie (Johnson) Wood.  She graduated from Madison High School and married Vernon G. Lee on January 29, 1955 at Madison.  Alta helped her father as a bookkeeper for his auto repair business and was a housewife from 1955-1983.  She was department manager for WalMart Corp. in LaGrange, KY, from 1984-1991.  she returned to Madison and worked at Dan & Jerry’s Greenhouse until 2007.

Alta was a member of Kentucky Arts Guild.  Alta and her husband had a Stain Glass Studio in LaGrange, Ky and traveled throughout the area attending art festivals and competitions.  She was also a member of Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include her children, Scott Lee of Columbia MD, Stacy (Terri) Lee of Sioux Falls, and JoDee (Dan) Labor of Arkdale, WI; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Andrew Wood, Jr. and Austin Wood.
