Charles “Chuck” W. Hill, age 83, of Madison, died Monday, March 11, 2019, at Bethel Lutheran Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, March 15, 2019, at West Center Baptist Church in Madison. Burial will be at a later date at Graceland Cemetery in Madison. The family will be present for visitation 4-6 PM, Thursday, at Ellsworth Funeral Home.
Charles William Hill was born on April 15, 1935, in Redfield, to William and Alvina (Hoff) Hill. He grew up in the Redfield area where he graduated high school. Chuck attended Northern State and South Dakota State Universities where he received in BS degree in Engineering in 1961. On April 24, 1960, Chuck married Kay Mohn in Aberdeen. He worked as a Radar Design Engineer for Westinghouse for 38 years. The couple retired in 1998 and decided to build a house on Lake Madison, Chuck was the designer of the home.
Chuck was a member of the Madison Kiwanis Club and loved attending National Geographic Series lectures when they lived near Washington D.C. He also loved the games of softball and baseball. He was a member of the Westinghouse softball team for 25 years and he and Kay were season ticket holders for the Baltimore Orioles where they attended many games together.
He is survived by his wife Kay of Madison; two children, Dan (Cheryl) Hill of Columbia, SC, and Kendra (Robert Kirby) Hill of Bend, OR; one sister Mary (Edward) Buchholz of Madison; and one niece, Beth (Jon) Sagers of Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
