Curtis Caulk, age 68, of Madison, died Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church in Madison. Inurnment will be at a later date. The family will be present for visitation from 5-7 pm, Monday, at the Ellsworth Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7.
Curtis Lester Caulk was born September 7, 1950, in Madison, to Lester and Marie (Young) Caulk. He graduated from Madison High School in 1969 before attending Votech in Mitchell. He married Marla Schulz on March 11, 1978, at St John Lutheran Church in Madison. Curt farmed with his family South of Junius for many years before welding at Gehl for 20+ years where he retired. Following his retirement, he volunteered at Bethel three days a week, where he and the residents enjoyed each other’s company. He will be remembered as an all around good guy who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone and everyone.
Curt enjoyed gardening, a delicious meal, farming, playing cards with Arnie, and most of all his family. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Madison, where he served on the church council for many years.
He is survived by his wife Marla of Madison; two daughters, Nichole (Floyd) Lappe of Pierre, and Kristi (Mark) Harsma of Pierre; two grandsons, Wesley and Arnold James “AJ” Harsma; one brother, Vernon (Debra) Caulk of AZ; three sisters, Shirley (Don) Larsen of Mitchell, Marilyn (Gary) Carson of NE, Linda Caulk of MN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law Arnie Schulz.
