Donald “Don” B. Seedorf, age 94, of Madison, formerly of Wentworth, died Friday, March 29, 2019, at Madison Regional Health System. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at West Center Baptist Church in Madison. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Tuesday, at Ellsworth Funeral Home
Donald Burnell Seedorf was born December 26, 1924, in Wentworth, to Charles and Margaret (Adams) Seedorf. Don graduated from Wentworth High School before enlisting in the US Army where he served during WW II in Europe. He farmed in the Wentworth area for many years and also helped area farmers when needed. He was given the Centennial Farm Award and his farm was the Wentworth Weather Observation post for 35 years. He was a self-sufficient man always living off of the land.
Don was well known as a talented writer and poet who loved music and singing for others. He was a strong Christian man always giving thanks to God. Many also knew him for the wonderful cookies and bars he made for his friends. He was actively involved as a member of West Center Baptist Church. Don also served on the Wentworth Township Board. He was a tutor for the Madison Literacy Council, a member of the Crop Livestock Association, and a member of the Gideons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Virgil and Clarence.
Don is survived by his close friends, Jerry, Jane, and John Eilertson of Wentworth, Gordy, Jackie, Noah, and Neely Salmen of Madison, Neil, Jill, Naomi, and Anna Vonkeman of Wentworth, and his fellow residents and staff at Heritage Senior Living in Madison.
