Ella M. Roling

Ella M. Roling, age 95, of Sioux Falls formerly of Madison, died Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Luther Manor in Sioux Falls.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, April 28, 2017 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Madison. The family will be present for visitation 5-7 PM Thursday with a wake service at 7:00 PM at Ellsworth Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to Mass at the church.  Inurnment will follow at Franklin Cemetery, rural Chester.

Ella M. Roling was born on June 28, 1921, in Madison, to Adolf and Ida (Laun) Kruse. She was raised in the Franklin area and graduated from Franklin High School. She attended Eastern Normal College and taught country school near Madison and later in Montana. Ella married Gerald Roling on November 6, 1946 at Hartford. They lived in Humboldt and later farmed near Brookings, Franklin, Orland, and Junius. She lived with her daughter in Sioux Falls the last few years. Ella’s greatest hobbies were reading and gardening.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2002, and one infant brother.

Survivors include her children, Thomas (Doreen) Roling of Madison; Richard (Katie) Roling of Madison; Jim (Kathy) Roling of Piedmont; Ed (Becky Leisinger) of Madison; Kathy (Jerry) Keiser of Canton; Ann (Dan) Larson of Sioux Falls; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; one sister, Violet Haugmo of Independence, MO;
