Helen W. Larsen, age 98, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Madison, died Saturday, June 30, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 5, 2018, at West Center Baptist Church in Madison. The family will be present for visitation from 4-6 pm, Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at the Ellsworth Funeral Home in Madison. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Madison.
Helen Kirstein was born on October 5, 1919, in Madison, to Richard and Martha (Krueger) Kirstein. She graduated from Madison High School. Helen married Russell Larsen on December 15, 1939, in Sundance, WY. They farmed near Wentworth for a number of years and lived in Dell Rapids and Chester before moving to Madison in 1973. Helen worked as a homemaker raising her children and helping Russell on the farm. Russell died in 1996 and Helen moved to Sioux Falls in 1999.
She was a member of West Center Baptist Church, Ann of Ava Guild, and she was a Red Cross Gray Lady. Her family was her love.
She is survived by her children, Russell (JoAnn) Larsen of Longmont, CO, Robert (Jackie) Larsen of Sioux Falls, William (Pam) Larsen of Sioux Falls, and Sharon (Glen) Fockler of Sioux Falls; one brother, Rev. Vern (Mildred) Kirstein of Gresham, OR; 10 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Eugene (Betty) Larsen of Sioux Falls; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Larsen of Madison; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Russell; one infant brother Kenneth, and one brother Floyd.
