Patrick “Pat” J. Schlim, age 71, of Madison, died Monday, December 17, 2018, at Madison Regional Health. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, December 20, 2018, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Madison. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Howard.
Patrick Schlim was born May 12, 1947 in Madison, to Charles and Justina (Kaiser) Schlim. Pat was raised in the Howard community before residing at the Redfield State School for about 15 years. In 1979, Pat was enrolled at ECCO now Valiant Living. Throughout his life Pat worked at various places such as Persona, in the shop at Valiant Living, and First American Bank as “Thumbuddy”, the bank mascot.
Pat enjoyed spending time with his family during the summer months and holidays. He was well known for collecting buffalo memorabilia as a hobby. Pat also enjoyed sorting his coins, shopping, watching TV, and attending church where he served as an usher for many years.
He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus where he was named Knight of the Month in 1996.
Pat is survived by his siblings, William “Bill” Schlim of St. Charles, IL, Don (Mary K.) Schlim of Howard, Clyde (Connie) Schlim of Philip, and Shirlee (Robert) Miller of Sun City West, AZ; seven nieces; five nephews; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
