Robert D. Ford, age 81, of Madison, died February 7, 2018, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 10, 2018, at the Ellsworth Funeral Home in Madison. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Graceland Cemetery in Madison. Visitation will begin at noon Friday, with the family present from 5-7 PM at the Ellsworth Funeral Home.
Robert Dean Ford was born on September 14, 1936, to Harry and Alice (Anderson) Ford in Montrose, SD. He received his GED before enlisting in the US Army where he was stationed in Japan between the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Robert worked as a machine operator for many years at Gehl Manufacturing before his retirement. Bob found joy later in life in his passions for photography, scuba diving, travelling abroad, and supporting the Lady Ts. He was very proud of achieving his Master Diving Certification after retirement.
Survivors include his children, Lyle Ford of Madison, Jeff (Lisa Bakke) of Lawrence, KS, and Rhonda (Martha Conrad) of Louisville, CO; and one sister, Mavis (Harley) Cross of Howard.
Preceding him in death are his parents; two brothers, Alan and John Ford; and two sisters, Margie Cross, and Betty Hoffman.
