Sylvia F. Goehring

Sylvia F. Goehring, age 93, of Sioux Falls, died Thursday, January 11, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls. Funeral Services will be 1:30 PM, Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Village. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Tuesday.

Sylvia F. Bendixen was born on September 11, 1924, to Fritz and Elsie (Lehmann) Bendixen in Sioux Falls. She was raised in Sioux Falls where she graduated from Washington High School. She attended Sioux Falls College and she later received her degree from Dakota State College in Madison, SD, in 1971. Sylvia married Howard Goehring on September 7, 1947, in Sioux Falls.  She taught country school near Hosmer and later taught in Hosmer, Selby, and Estelline. Sylvia then helped her husband at the Good Samaritan Society in Osnabrock, ND, and Goodland and Atwood, KS. Sylvia was a member of the American Legion Auxilliary and Peace Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Howard in 2007, son Rick in 2016; one grandson Jake in 2017; three brothers, Jimmy, Roger, and Fred Bendixen; and three sisters, Barb Hanson, Deanna Jones, and Judy Jurrens.

Survivors include her daughter Susan (Jim) Endsley of Sioux Falls; one daughter-in-law Carole Goehring of Orlando, FL; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister Jean Berg of Inwood, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
