Helen I. Oetken

Helen Irene (Pallas) Oetken, 97, of Madison, SD passed away on October 25, 2023 at Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home in Madison, SD.

Funeral Service will be at 1:30 PM, Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Living Hope Wesleyan Church, Madison, SD. Visitation will be at 12:00 PM at the church, prior to the service.

Helen was born on October 1, 1926 to Jerry and Mary (Paulsen) Pallas in Thurston County, Nebraska. 

Helen married Wayne H. Oetken on June 2, 1946, in Emerson, Nebraska. Together they farmed in Nebraska and the Wentworth area until Wayne passed in 1990. Helen is survived by her children, Barbara Adams, Humboldt, IA; Wayne (Dorothy) Oetken, Madison, SD; Gary (Deb) Oetken, Elkhorn, NE; Betty (Steve) Tune, Woodward, OK; 11 grandchildren, 22 Great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandsons; 1 sister-in-law, Wilma Pallas, Emerson, NE.

Preceded in death by her husband, parents; 3 brothers, (Joe, Milton & Jerry) 3 sisters (MaryAnn, Mildred & Jean) and 1 son-in-law, John Adams.
