Rosanna M. Muth

Rosanna M. Muth, age 90, of Madison, died Friday, April 12, 2019, at Madison Regional Health System. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, April 18, 2019, at the United Methodist Church in Madison. Burial will follow at the Winfred Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Wednesday, at the Ellsworth Funeral Home.

Rosanna Mae Schlotterback was born November 11, 1928, in Madison, to Clarence and Florence (Potter) Schlotterback. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1947 before obtaining her graduate nurses degree from the Methodist Hospital of Nursing in Mitchell in 1951. Rosanna married Mearl Muth on April 26, 1955, in Luverne, MN. She worked as a nurse for several years at the children’s hospital in Minneapolis and for nine years at the Madison Community Hospital. She and Mearl farmed in the Franklin area.

She was a member of the Madison United Methodist Church where she belonged to many circles. She was also a 4H leader during her time in the Franklin area. Rosanna loved playing cards with her McDonald’s coffee group and thoroughly enjoyed gardening. Her family remembers her canning many jars of food over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Mearl in 1984; one son Donald in 2003; four brothers, Eddie, Guy, Howard, and Veryl; and one sister Velda; and two infants Marion and Margaret.

She is survived by three children, James Muth of Montrose, Patricia (Doug) Wheeler of Ida Grove, IA, and Sandy Zajic of Brookings; two brothers, Darrell (Jean) Muth of Gillette, WY, and Lyle (Sharon) Muth of Winthrop, MN; one sister, Lyla (Clark) Hanson of Brookings; five grandchildren, Austin Wheeler of Sioux Falls, Brianna Wheeler (David) of Freemont, NE, Seth Wheeler of Montrose, Jarid Zajic of Montrose, and Joanna Zajic (fiancé Patrick) of Brookings; two great-grandchildren, Keith and Haylee; many nieces and nephews; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
