Thomas C. Spiering

Thomas C. Spiering, age 86, of Madison, died Thursday, May 13, 2021, at the Madison Regional Health System. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM, Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at the Ellsworth Funeral Home in Madison. Burial will follow at the Union Cemetery in Flandreau. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Tuesday.

Thomas Spiering was born on May 31, 1934, to John and Freida (Leibert) Spiering in Codington County. He was raised on a farm and eventually earned his GED. Tom was was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army. His first job after farming and the service was driving heavy equipment, he then eventually went into law enforcement until retirement.

His passions were Harley Davidson motorcycles, WWII airplane modeling, and collecting guns.

He is survived by his wife Lois; his children, Wade Spiering of Arden Hills, MN, and Annette Fraser of Murfreesboro, TN; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Dorene Barthel of Watertown.
