Maynard A. Oines, age 78, of Madison, died Sunday, October 1, 2017, due to Alzheimer’s Disease, at Madison Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Ellsworth Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Maynard was born August 8, 1939, in Volga, SD, to Clarence and Mable (Ruen) Oines. He attended school through the 8th grade at Garfield School in Madison. Maynard married Sharon Exe on September 29, 1958, in Pipestone, MN. He worked at Wenk’s Produce and later for Northwestern Public Service as a service man for 35 years before retiring.
Maynard was a member of Lake Madison Lutheran Church, Madison Volunteer Fire Dept. for 30 years, and was always known to have a big garden. Maynard loved horses and camping, trail rides with family and even worked security on horse at the South Dakota State Fair. He owned and operated Oines Saddle Repair at his farm. He also helped with various things at Prairie Village.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Marvin and David; twin infant brothers; and one sister-in-law, Darlene Oines.
Survivors include his wife Sharon of Madison; one son, Tim (Pam) Oines of Lake Poinsett and their daughters, Katie (Pat) Lamb and Kasey Oines; one daughter, Tarri (Brad) Minor of Wentworth and their children, Clayton (Lacey) Minor, Kelly (Josh) Goslinga, Carrie (Jeff) LeBrun, and Michael Minor; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Donna Oines of Madison; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
